JUANPABLO (CL) music, experience and his new label "Decoder"

In an electronic scene often driven by trends and fast consumption, JUANPABLO (CL) stands out for a different reason: restraint, intention, and a deep understanding of groove as a language. With more than seven years of trajectory, the Chilean DJ and producer has built a career grounded in functionality on the dancefloor, technical precision, and a constantly evolving sonic identity.
Born in Chile, JUANPABLO (CL)’s relationship with music began early, first through instruments like piano and drums before fully committing to electronic music. This background would later shape his approach as both a DJ and producer—where rhythm, timing, and space play just as important a role as energy itself. His formal training in DJing and music production, particularly in Ableton Live, gave him the technical foundation to translate ideas into fully formed, club-ready tracks.

Over the years, JUANPABLO (CL) has performed extensively across Chile, Argentina, and Peru, adapting his sound to a wide range of venues and audiences throughout Latin America. Within Chile alone, his presence has reached cities such as Santiago, Concepción, La Serena, Coquimbo, Copiapó, Valparaíso, Viña del Mar, and Puerto Montt, consolidating a national footprint that reflects consistency rather than hype.
His DJ sets are defined by careful musical selection and dynamic construction. Rather than relying on formulas, JUANPABLO (CL) approaches each performance as a real-time dialogue with the dancefloor. Moving fluidly between minimal, deep tech, and tech house, his sets emphasize groove, subtle tension, vocal detail, and texture—always attentive to the energy of the moment. The result is a journey that feels both controlled and organic, maintaining a recognizable sound while remaining adaptable to the crowd.
As a producer, JUANPABLO (CL)’s recent releases reflect the same philosophy. His work has been featured on respected labels such as Whoyostro, Sojos, Posay, Génesis, Hábitat, and Código 56, reinforcing his growing presence within the electronic circuit. His productions are often described as “fine electronic music with character”: energetic yet introspective, playful yet precise, where groove is always the central driving force. Less is more—a principle that guides his studio process and defines his sonic identity.

Beyond the booth and the studio, JUANPABLO (CL) has also played a key role in education. In recent years, he has worked as a DJ instructor at one of Chile’s leading DJ academies, passing on technical knowledge, musical criteria, and professional insight to both new and experienced generations. This pedagogical work has not only strengthened his own understanding of the craft, but also expanded his influence within the national scene.
A new chapter in his career is now unfolding with the creation of Decoder, his own brand and record label. Decoder represents JUANPABLO (CL)’s broader vision: a platform rooted in identity, versatility, curiosity, and a genuine interest in pushing innovative proposals within electronic music, both locally and internationally. The label’s first release—a Various Artists compilation scheduled for February—will serve as an introduction to Decoder’s sound universe, focused on tech house and deep tech with solid groove, musical coherence, and clear dancefloor intention.
Currently, JUANPABLO (CL) remains deeply motivated by upcoming releases and collaborations with artists from Mexico, Peru, Argentina, and Chile, while continuing to refine his sound and expand his artistic reach. In a scene that is increasingly competitive and diverse, his trajectory highlights the value of patience, process, and a strong personal criterion.
Rather than chasing trends, JUANPABLO (CL) is building something more enduring: a career shaped by groove, discipline, and a clear understanding of what truly moves a dancefloor.
Q&A —
JUANPABLO (CL)
- How would you define your style when you DJ or produce?
In production, I define my style as fine electronic music with character. Energetic, fun, and introspective, where groove is the main agent in every track I make.
When I DJ, before every performance I focus a lot on music selection. I aim to develop a refined selection that is functional for the dancefloor. I move between minimal, deep tech, and tech house, paying close attention to details, vocals, textures, and the energy of the moment.
My approach is not to follow formulas, but to read the dancefloor and build a journey that connects with people, always maintaining a recognizable sound and technique.
- What moments or experiences have shaped your path as a DJ/producer?
Direct contact with the dancefloor was key—understanding how people react to groove, tension, and silence. Exploring different genres and labels also helped me understand the complexity of sound and what truly catches the audience’s attention.
Another important aspect was learning to deal with frustration and anxiety, and understanding that the process is more important than the goal. Trial and error in the studio taught me that less is more. All of this refined my ear and criteria until I found a sound that is both personal and functional.
- Who are your main influences today?
Today I’m mainly influenced by European artists and labels that understand electronic music as a language rather than a trend or fashion.
I’m inspired by producers with strong sonic identities, solid grooves, and an effective approach to DJing. More than specific names, I’m inspired by scenes that push new, introverted, and functional sounds on the dancefloor without losing personality.
- What upcoming projects or releases are you most excited about?
I’m very motivated by upcoming releases and collaborations with artists from Mexico, Peru, Argentina, and Chile.
I’m also especially focused on the release of the first Various Artists compilation from my label, Decoder. It’s a key project for my career, as it allows me to present the sound I’ve been developing for a long time—tech house and deep tech with strong groove, always maintaining musical quality and sonic coherence.
- Tell us the story behind your latest track or EP.
My latest track and EP were signed to Génesis BA (Argentina) and Sojos (Colombia). The EP was a collaboration with two great Peruvian artists, Edgar and Ander P.
These tracks were built around groove and dancefloor functionality. The creative process was very intuitive, focusing on necessary layers, repetition, bass movement, and leaving space for details and vocals to breathe organically—without losing the identity of the genre.
- How do you usually start a production session?
I usually start with the bass, because I consider it the soul of the track. From there, I build using only the necessary elements, letting the idea flow organically.
I prefer simple processes and references, experimenting a lot and discarding ideas quickly until the track finds its own direction and identity—always keeping in mind that less is more.
- How do you see the electronic music scene in your city or country today?
The electronic scene in Chile is very alive and constantly moving. It’s increasingly diverse and competitive, with new events, labels, and young talents constantly developing their sound.
There’s a strong sense of collaboration, which helps expand the musical catalog. Overall, the scene continues to grow, opening space for both emerging and established artists, with a clear focus on quality music and meaningful dancefloor experiences.
- What has been your most memorable gig so far?
One of the most memorable gigs was warming up for British DJ and producer Ben Rau at El Tebo in Puchuncaví, Chile—an incredible location surrounded by forest and sea.
Another standout experience was playing at Sky Costanera, the tallest tower in South America, in Santiago. An unforgettable setting for a DJ set in a completely unique environment.
- Which club or festival would you love to play someday?
In Europe, I’d love to play at clubs that are pillars of electronic culture such as Fabric (London), DC-10, Hï Ibiza, Amnesia, and Ushuaïa.
In the Americas: Club Space (Miami), Crobar (Buenos Aires), Warung Beach Club (Brazil), and Lost Beach Club (Montañita).
Festival-wise, events like Awakenings, DGTL, Tomorrowland, Creamfields, ADE, and Sunwaves are ideal—spaces where audiences truly value an artist’s proposal and trajectory.
