B-lakes – Rising Chilean Artist

B-lakes is a Chilean artist and producer who grew up surrounded by instruments and music of all kinds. Coming from a deeply musical family, his greatest inspiration was his late brother — a singer and guitarist in a local band — who paved the way for his artistic journey. From a young age, B-lakes explored different instruments and genres, but it was the blues and funk of the ’70s and ’80s that truly sparked his passion.

In 2015, he discovered the electronic and house music scene, where he found his sound and identity. With over a year of DJ experience and six months producing, B-lakes is emerging as one of Chile’s most promising new electronic talents, blending groove, soul, and energy in every track.

He is set to release his debut track “Boogie Man” under the Australian label Glitch Society Records, led by Adiel Mora.

Interview with B-LAKES

1. How did you discover your passion for DJing?

Ever since I can remember, my house has been filled with instruments. My passion for music first came through playing guitar and drums. When I was 15, I went to Lollapalooza for the first time and discovered House music. That same year, I bought my first controller — though I left it aside after a few months. I kept playing instruments and learning about music theory, but the real turning point came in 2024 when I had the chance to go to Ibiza. That trip made me realize this is exactly what I want to do for the rest of my life. As soon as I got back to Chile, I dusted off my controller — and since then, it’s been nonstop. I hope it stays that way.

2. Where do you see yourself in three years?

It’s hard to say. I just want everything to move slowly and be enjoyed. Everyone’s life seems to go too fast, and I’ve always felt like I’m running. With music, I’d like to keep walking and let things come naturally. But if I had to take a guess, I’d love to be touring — at least once a year across Europe — discovering new places and meeting different people who keep filling me with that endless drive to live and experience more.

3. Who are your musical influences?

If there’s one sound that drives me crazy every time I hear it, it’s Iglesias. That aggressive minimal style with funky touches is just perfection. I also love the darker, more synthesized sounds of Mau P, and lastly, Michael Bibi — he’s my hero. Not just because of his label and his sound, but also for what he represents in the industry.

4. What can you tell us about your next release?

My next track, “Boogie Man,” is a Jackin’ House tune meant to bring that funky ’70s vibe back to today’s dance floors. I’m a nostalgic person — I love organic sounds — so I sampled KC & The Sunshine Band and added synths and percussions to give it that feeling of being in a club with a disco ball, dressed like the Bee Gees, haha. It’s a track I really enjoy playing, and I’m super excited for it to be out soon for everyone to hear.
